Taking a Short Break

Hi Everyone! Yes, I am still around. My life is good but busy, and the blog unfortunately is an obligation to fulfill rather than an enjoyable hobby that I always meant it to be.

Last week, I had decided to "retire" the blog. A good blogger must find the time to write interesting content -- in this case, watch a film, do some research and then translate my thoughts into words -- and to read other blogs, commenting on the content and striking up a dialogue with the writer.

However, I'm just not ready to end Classicfilmboy. I really do love my blog, and it's something I want to continue doing. So, I've decided to take a short break until spring. I make no promises; at that point, I'll determine whether to continue or to stop.

So, until then, here's a photo of my beloved Audrey with the late, great Peter O'Toole from the set of "How to Steal a Million." My thanks to those who have stopped by over the years and I do hope I will continue to see you in the future if and when I return (I'll be positive and emphasize "when")!

  4. Oh CFB! I've been away myself and totally understand, but I do hope you don't disappear into cyberspace! I've always enjoyed your stuff so much. Stick around when you can, and keep in touch. Have a Happy New Year!

  5. I completely understand where you are coming from. In October, I was about to retire my blog. Instead, though, I took November off and have posted only a couple times in December. Like you, I found that writing about these great films had ceased being fun and, instead, had become a burden. The break did me good, and I have decided to stick with it...though instead of 10+ posts a month, the next year will see me doing only 3 or 4.

I hope your break is rejuvenating and serves to rekindle the fire.

    Happy new year,
    Patti

  6. I know what you're going through, Brian, it happened to me a little over a year ago. I'm hoping that getting some blog-free R&R is all you need (it worked for me). I really hope you'll be back in the spring - would hate not having your posts to look forward to, no matter how few and far between they might be

  7. Brian, I hope you continue to write about film. I have always enjoyed your excellent blog. Remember, posts can be brief and sporadic. It's about quality, not quantity, and quality has never been an issue for you.

We'll be here if you decide to return.
I still link to your archives on Twitter.

Whatever your decision, thanks for the memories.
